Gram flour is a flour made from ground chana dal, a legume otherwise known as chickpeas. It is also known as chickpea flour, garbanzo flour, or besan (Bengali: beshon). Used in many countries, it is a staple ingredient in Indian and Bangladeshi cuisines, and, in the form of a paste with water or yoghurt, a popular facial exfoliant in the Indian Subcontinent. Moreover, when mixed with an equal proportion of water, can be used as an egg-replacer in vegan cooking.
Rice flour (also rice powder) is a form of flour made from finely milled rice. It is distinct from rice starch, which is usually produced by steeping rice in lye.
Rice flour may be made from either white rice or brown rice. To make the flour, the husk of rice or paddy is removed and raw rice is obtained. The raw rice is then ground to flour.
